What Every Good Wizard Should Learn About New York

From time to time, I make it my business to explain to the would-be Wizard a few things about how to adjust to living in a place as maddening and, at times, as incredibly maniacal, as New York. Being ye Byg Appyl's Unofficial Wizard, of course, and having experienced much of this stuff me own bloomin' self, these are things the potential Wizard-in-training must figure out should one desire to attempt to survive hither:

First and foremost, the major objective is: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. New York is overrun by Mortals who will stop at nothing to obtain their means. Having lived as a werewolf, as is told in my backstory, the primary rule regarding life here basically amounts to a mere four words, said four words being: Hunt or be hunted --- in other words, hunt for your food or become one of the hunted!

Be aware, too, that while most New Yorkers are always friendly, and try to make it a constant effort to remain thus, it is worth remembering Obi-wan Kenobi's ancient dictum, "Your eyes can play tricks on you. Never trust them." But it's often more than that. Sometimes sounds can be as deceiving as looks. Here, too --- never trust them, potential Mage!

And never buy the untruth that most New Yorkers will say that they've likely seen it all. This, I believe, is largely due to the simple fact that New Yorkers don't always use their imaginations as they should. Wizards should only use their powers to convince others to imagine in ways that only certain individuals have the acumen to understand. And when it comes to people overall, yes or no are not always legitimate choices to be made, even if others will tell you otherwise.

That's only some of the things every good Wizard should learn about New York. There will be other items to observe; but if you would seek to disagree with me, I welcome your e-mail responses.
