Blackwolf's Big (and Rather Unexpected) Surprise!

Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 12:53 PM EST [General]

Well, here we are, dearests, at Missive #201 in this ol' Blog at RenSpace.com --- and look who's just dared to surprise your humble Dragonmaster! My Official Rock Band, Finland's lovable beasties themselves, Lordi, will fulfill a longtime wish of mine: that of making their American television debut on NBC's Late Night w/Conan O' Brien! Huzzah! This, I believe, would be the Thursday, November 6th episode; and it coincides with the release of the band's new album, Deadache! and its first single, Bite It Like a Bulldog --- not to mention the DVD/Blu-ray release of Team Lordi's very own movie, Dark Floors!

And as if that's not weird enough, Lordi's Deadache! in America Tour, featuring Lizzy Borden, Stolen Babies and Fixer, sees the Monstericans making seven House of Blues appearances: Houston, Dallas, Vegas, San Diego, the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Cleveland and Chicago --- before wrapping things up back hither in ye Byg Appyl on November 24th, at Live Nation's Fillmore @ Irving Plaza!

Oh, by Merlin's beard, this is truly an unexpected but long overdue surprise for me! And it be one I would willingly brave the cold to be a part of, if only for the sole purpose of meeting Lordi and fiends in person! I just hope they'll tolerate my presence! More to the point, I hope I don't wuss out on this, either! More to share soon, Mortals! As ever, stay ye tun'd!

And here we are at last: Missive #200!

Monday, October 20, 2008, 11:04 AM EST [General]

And so, goodly gentles, we are finally here! Welcome, friends of RenSpace.com, to this, the 200th Missive in Blackwolf the Dragonmaster's RenSpace Blog!

I must tell you, my friends, there have been so many who have supported my efforts here since first I joined. At the time I first learned of the existence of RenSpace, as I recall, I didst join the franchise for the sole purpose of interactivity with various and sundry Kings and Queens of Faire. Though I was successful in the achievement of such a goal, I was nonetheless concerned as to whether it would be something far more exciting. I am pleased to say, thank goodness, that I need not have been so concerned, for I have found many new friends here --- and, in the process, I've also had at least two very special wishes fulfilled!

Since my recent encounter at our 24th Fort Tryon Park Medieval Festival with Their Majesties, King Tiberius and Queen Sybella of Jerusalem, I have frequently e-mailed His Majesty with news and doings regarding my further adventures. I have every hope that King Tiberius will find friends here at RenSpace in the same manner that I have.

In any case, less than two weeks remain now toward my final official public appearance for the year, at the 35th Anniversary Greenwich Village Halloween Parade (Milady Jeanne hath chosen ghosts for her Parade theme this year, which means I'm going to have to put up with idiotic references to Ghostbusters and all that rot --- which is just as well, because Activision and Columbia Pictures have joined forces to create Ghostbusters: The Video Game --- which, I think, should prove interesting).

Oh yeah, one other thing: As Halloween falleth 'pon a Friday eve this year, no sooner do I find meself seeking relaxation than yet another major icon of mine adopted metropolis comes along to bamboozle me Wizardly person: the 2008 ING NYC Marathon, with all those feet trying to run all those 26 miles through our entire City! Thank goodness I shall have begun my hibernation rituals by the Sunday dawn of the race, November 2nd --- because, frankly, I don't think I want to listen to my toesies yelling "Ouch!" ad nauseum. And anyway, I did that earlier this year, when I did AIDS Walk New York. (I'm still paying for that one physically, with interest!)

But anyway, I've had a glorious time doing things as New York's Unofficial Wizard --- and I hope I haven't done anything too incredibly silly. To you, my fellow New Yorkers, my thanks again for your constant continuing to put up with me; and to the rest of you, loads and loads of love.

So until I see you goodly gentles back on dearest Fifth Avenue at the Easter Parade, be well, behave yourselves --- and always hold on to your imaginations!

    Fearlessly yours, as ever,

    Master Blackwolf

Nearly there, dearests. Not long now.....

Saturday, October 18, 2008, 01:28 PM EST [General]

As I've been saying here at RenSpace.com, I will soon have posted 200 missives hither in this Blog. The burdens of being Unofficial Sorcerer-in-Residence unto the Mortalfolk of the City, County and State of New York do tend to be many, but, by the same token, so are the boons. Methinks 'twould be wiser and much more noble to keep a firm and hard focus 'pon the boons.

That said, i must once again thank everyone both within and beyond the Renaissance Faire, Role-playing and Gaming, and Sci-fi/Fantasy Communities who have noticed me, been kind to me, or has simply had an especially good word to say about me Wizardly person. More than anything else, it is those things that remain vital to my happiness and positive perception of the world. Through your help, support and good thoughts, I have reveled happily in its joy. For all these good things, I thank you.

Well, enough nonsense for now. I'm off to see what sort of trouble I should get into now. Missive #200 is coming soon, friends of RenSpace! Pray, be ye thither!

    Friday. Silly. PARTY!!!

Friday, October 17, 2008, 12:32 PM EST [General]

October 17th, 2008, Mortal-reckoning --- and tell me, how do you choose to party this weekend? I, of course, would gorge me Wizardly person 'pon the obligatory pastrami sandwich and Diet Coke (in which case, I would ask thy indulgence and pray ye, permit me my customary chant --- "Belch-a-rooney!" [BURP!!!] --- which, though rude at the surface, does serve its purpose).

Anywho, nobody is around hither at RenSpace this day. The Des Moines Faire having been completed, Her Majesty Queen Catherine is presently on the other side of the world --- that would be London, England --- I look forward now to next year's Des Moines Faire, where, with King Edward ruling with her, dearest Catherine will do more silly --- and indeed even more Royal nice stuff!

As for me, this ol' Dragonmaster is going to find a few Dragons to tame. I spent all of yesterday practically seeking out newer and more incredible ways to re-invent meself; presently, I am at a loss to do so. And before I get stupid here, I must e-mail Milady Jeanne, that I might make the formal request to do the Halloween Parade, two weeks hence! It's all I can do now, with Elvira in Philadelphia, Thor and Munnin at home in Hawley, and Lordi in Helsinki this Eve of the Samhain.... 'Tis enough, say I, to force me to grumble uncontrollably.

Now, Mortals, I trust you understand why I love/hate mine adopted metropolis on several maniacal occasions. But, as ever, a Dragonmaster's work is never done. Ah, me.

Thursday --- and nothing new to say.....

Thursday, October 16, 2008, 01:29 PM EST [General]

Have just now written another e-mail to Their Majesties, King Tiberius and Queen Sybella of Jerusalem, wherein I have introduced them to the Kingdom of Acre, presently under the wise rule of Their Majesties, King Richard and Queen Treacaigh. (The portrait, by Sir James of Robertson, is of Their Majesties of Acre, with their cute little Prince, just moments after their Coronation.) Why, I've a mind to e-mail King Richard meself, as I've nothing else better to do on this Thursday.

Still, it's interesting to note that Christmas is but a few short weeks away; and yet I wonder why I'm so bloomin' eager to do it in the midst of October, no less. Maybe, as ever, it's me Wizardly impatience that's getting to me. Mumsey dearest did always tell me that great things, as opposed to good, always befall those who are wise to wait.

Well, I'm off now to listen to some Move Closer to Your World on YouTube. Just three more posts now before me 200th Missive hither; as ever, stay ye tun'd!
